So you have just seen a job post that you are interested in, and you want to apply for it? Yet you are not sure how to catch the recruiters’ attention? Well, here are few tips on how you can make sure that you get you that interview for your desired job:

Tip 1: Before you apply, make sure that you meet the job requirements.

Recruiters are always looking for someone who will add value to the organization for which they are recruiting; so they will not even look at your resume, if you don’t meet the minimum requirements for that particular position.

Tip 2: Make sure your resume highlights your skills, strengths, hobbies and traits that might be advantageous for that position.

When you do this you are giving yourself a competitive advantage over other candidates who might be competing with you for the same position. Think of your resume as your “advert”; make recruiter(s) fall in love with all that you have to offer. However, be careful not deceive the recruiter(s); make sure that all the information that you have included in your resume is correct and true.

Tip 3: Enclose a cover letter on your application.

“Why a cover letter when I have already included everything that a recruiter needs to know about me?” you may ask. Well, a cover letter is pretty much a summary of your resume, and may also include motivation as to why the recruiter should choose you for the position. It also allows the recruiter to decide on whether you are a suitable candidate for the position or not; without having to go through your resume first. If your motivation is impressive enough, some recruiters might even skip the interview phase and give you an offer immediately.
